Civic Service Union 52 celebrated its 100th Anniversary with a Centennial Gala at the Westin Hotel downtown on September 19, 2009. The lovely Lynda Steele (Global News Edmonton) was the Mistress of Ceremonies for an evening that honoured the hard work of past and present CSU 52 members and staff.
Special guests in attendance included Chief of Police Mike Boyd, Fire Chief Ken Block, Edmonton Public Library Chief Executive Officer Linda Cook, Capital Power Corporation President & CEO Brian Vaasjo, City Councillors Tony Caterina, Ben Henderson, Don Iveson, Amarjeet Sohi and Dave Thiele. President Marion Leskiw thanked the Gala Committee (Laurie Montgomery and Donna Demyen), Winston Gereluk of the Alberta Labour History Institute, the History Committee, the Public Relations Committee and the staff of the Westin Hotel for all their dedication and work that made the event a huge success.
